Touchpoint Reaches into Kiwi Pockets with Mobile Messaging

Once again, Touchpoint adds to its communication repertoire by now supporting mobile text (SMS) messaging in addition to email, website and direct mail marketing.

An excellent tool for sending instant alerts, reminders, broadcast announcements, job dispatches and up-to-the-minute news like share prices and traffic updates - mobile text messaging enables you to reach people wherever they are in real time.

Even more immediate than email, Touchpoint mobile messaging covers all networks: 021, 025, 023, 027, 029. Messages can be scheduled to run automatically, personalised for the receiver and triggered on specific events like a birthday, when medication is due, when a bank account is in overdraft...

Text messaging can be tied in with other Touchpoint channels to help you create and close customer communication loops. For instance, direct mail can drive customers to a website where they register and then receive text messages based on the information they requested. An email campaign can be followed with a text message reminder to drive specific behaviour. Or you can send text messages on a broadcast basis to make general sales/offer/promotion announcements.

The pharmaceutical industry has been quick to take advantage of mobile text messaging for sending pill and prescription reminders. GlaxoSmithKline, an earlier adopter, is using Touchpoint text messaging and email to great success with two of its medications. For Zyban, a smoking cessation medication, Touchpoint's advanced personalisation and scheduling features enable customers to indicate what time they will take their first pill. Then the system automatically calculates how many reminders they need in the day, and what times these reminders should be sent - all depending on how many days the customer has been on the Zyban programme.
